Flex Engineering was formed following the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020, when Tim Bell, founder of Argo Engineering, made the decision to split the growing company into two separate entities to better manage demand.

Argo Engineering had begun in January 2016 with just one part-time staff member, expanding to a six person team by the time of the pandemic. Flex Engineering has since grown to a team of 10, now serving both local and national clients with reliable, adaptable engineering solutions

Tim Bell – Founder & Director
Tim is the founder and director of both Argo and Flex Engineering, bringing over 20 years of hands-on experience in the engineering industry. Known for his practical approach, Tim thrives in the workshop and enjoys getting out to meet customers on-site. Raised in the wider Manawatū area, he has deep roots in the local community. Outside of work, Tim is a dedicated family man with two children and his partner, Claire.

Claire Leydon – Business Support & Operations
Claire plays a key role behind the scenes at Flex Engineering, helping to keep the business running smoothly. From managing operations to supporting the team, she brings calm, organisation, and a can-do attitude to every task. Claire is passionate about community and family, and when she’s not at work, she’s spending time with Tim and their two children, or enjoying the outdoors.

Shaun Evans – Workshop Foreman
Shaun is the one who keeps the workshop humming and the crew in line. With a solid background in transport engineering, he brings both skill and leadership to every project. Known for his dedication and relentless work ethic, Shaun leads by example and ensures jobs get done right. Outside of work, he’s a proud dad to two sons and enjoys riding his dirt bike.

Anthony Gifford-Moore – Operations Manager
Anthony is the driving force behind the day-to-day operations at Flex Engineering. As Operations Manager, he’s the main point of contact for clients—managing relationships, quoting jobs, and making sure the workflow stays steady. Outside of work, he’s a dad of four who enjoys heading into the bush for a good hunt.

Rochelle Ross – Administrator
Rochelle is the organisational backbone of Flex Engineering. She takes care of payroll, manages accounts payable and receivable, and keeps the workshop stocked with everything it needs to run smoothly. With a sharp eye for detail and a calm, friendly presence, Rochelle ensures the admin side of the business runs like clockwork. A proud mum of three grown-up boys, she enjoys relaxing with a good book and spending time with her beloved cats.

Conrad Baird – Engineer
Conrad is a skilled engineer who specialises in on-site repairs, bringing practical solutions directly to where they’re needed most. Known for his reliability and problem-solving mindset, he’s often the one you’ll see out in the field getting things back up and running. A proud father of three, Conrad balances his hands-on work with a strong commitment to family life.

Troy Brown – Engineer & Technical Drawing Specialist
Troy brings precision and creativity to the Flex Engineering team, specialising in pipe work and custom handrails, as well as handling much of our technical drawing. His attention to detail ensures every project is accurately planned and expertly executed. Outside of work, Troy is a proud dad of one and an avid motorsport enthusiast—Flex is proud to sponsor his drift car as he takes his skills from the workshop to the track.

Daniel Howe – Engineer
Daniel is a reliable and versatile member of the Flex Engineering team, bringing solid engineering skills and a can-do attitude to every job. Whether he’s in the workshop or out on-site, Daniel takes pride in delivering quality work and practical solutions. A valued part of the crew, he’s always ready to lend a hand and get the job done right.

Thomas Dellabarca – Engineer
Thomas is the newest addition to the Flex Engineering team, bringing fresh energy and a keen interest in all things engineering. Eager to learn and get stuck in, he’s quickly becoming a valuable part of the crew. Whether he’s in the workshop or out on-site, Thomas is committed to drawing on his skills and contributing wherever he can.

Alex Hoyle – Work Experience Student
Alex is currently completing work experience with the Flex Engineering team while still in high school. Eager to learn and get hands-on, he’s exploring a future career in the engineering trade. With a great attitude and willingness to give anything a go, Alex is making the most of every opportunity to build his skills and see what the industry is all about.
